Animal Crossing Wii Gets Renamed for European Markets

European audiences probably groaned a little bit when Nintendo announced today that their version of Wii’s Animal Crossing title would be released sometime in December 2008, about a month after the North American release of the game.

But cheer up, boys and girls, because Nintendo had another piece of information that’s sure to make up for the month delay between NA and Euro ship dates: the European version of the game is getting a title change!

Previously sporting the suffix City Folk, the newly monikered Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City is scheduled to release across Europe in December, meaning it comes soon after the US release of November 16 – a small delay in light of the two-year wait that European gamers had to endure for the GameCube version. — IGN

Thus far, it would appear that the NA release of Animal Crossing will still sport the “City Folk” branding.

I don’t really see a difference between the two titles; if anything, the European title of “Let’s Go to the City” is a tad cheerier than plain old “City Folk.” Anybody else have a preference as to which title Animal Crossing Wii ships with?
