Wii Critics Kicked in the Teeth
Critics blasted Nintendo for the lack of 3rd party support with the Nintendo GameCube. When the Nintendo Wii was released those same critics blasted Nintendo for the “Over Innovative” wiimote stating, 3rd party developers would not be able to make use of the controls and again Nintendo would lack the support. And here is the final word…
Recent sales figures have come out showing that not only is this critical statement false but that in fact 3rd party developers have made more interactive and innovative games that spark a craving to play their titles. Including re-imagined controls of existing titles. Some of the 3rd party titles celebrating over a million units sold or nearing that figure were listed in the figures as:
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition ~ Selling 1.6 million units
Rayman Raving Rabbids ~ with 1.2 million units sold
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles ~ Selling 900,000 units and growing
So to the critics chastising Nintendo every step of the way I have one thing to say. Word mean nothing at the end of the day and the numbers speak for themselves. The Wiimote is not only a great controller but a god send to 3rd party developers wanting something different from their titles.
